Myanmar to participate in ASEAN Tourism Forum 2024

YANGON, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar will participate in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Tourism Forum 2024 in Laos next year, the Myanmar Tourism Entrepreneurs Association said on Saturday.

"Until now, four travel companies registered to represent Myanmar in the forum," U Naung Naung Han, president of the Myanmar Tourism Entrepreneurs Association, told Xinhua.

Myanmar military meets rebel groups with China's help - junta spokesperson

Dec 11 (Reuters) - Representatives from Myanmar's ruling military have held talks, facilitated by China, with three armed rebel groups leading an anti-junta offensive, state media reported a junta spokesperson as saying on Monday.

Myanmar's military is battling armed opponents on several fronts, in the fiercest challenge to its grip on the Southeast Asian country since it seized power from an elected government in a 2021 coup.

Myanmar Holds International Textile, Machinery Fair For Garment Sector Development

YANGON, Dec 9 (NNN-MNA) – The 2023 Myanmar International Textile and Machinery Fair was launched in the commercial city of Yangon, yesterday.

Speaking at the launching ceremony of the expo, Yangon Region Chief Minister, U Soe Thein, said that, such kind of exhibitions are essential for getting new customers, new technologies, creativity and machinery, adding that, the textile and garment sector was creating about 500,000 job opportunities in Myanmar.

Myanmar: Ship Fire In Yangon Kills Two

YANGON, Nov 20 (NNN-MNA) – Two people were killed and three others injured, when a ship, docked behind a steel factory, in Insein township in Yangon, caught fire, an official from a rescue organisation said, yesterday.

After the fire was extinguished, on the double-decker ship, carrying cement, two dead bodies were found inside the ship’s oil storage tank, U Thurein Tun said, adding that, 15 rescue organisations came to the scene for rescue operations.

Myanmar Earns 1.81 Billion USD From Agricultural Exports In Seven Months

YANGON, Nov 11 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar earned 1.81 billion U.S. dollars from agricultural products export, in the first seven months of the current 2023-24 fiscal year, according to data released by the Ministry of Commerce, today.

The figure from Apr 1 to Nov 3, represented a decrease from the 2.01 billion U.S. dollars recorded in the same period last year, showed the ministry’s data.

Clashes break out in northeast Myanmar, 3 government-controlled areas fall

YANGON, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's three government-controlled areas have fallen following attacks on security outposts in the northern Shan state since Oct. 27, the Information Team of Myanmar's State Administration Council said on Thursday.

The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), the Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), and Arakan Army (AA) groups attacked Myanmar armed forces' security outposts in some areas of the northern Shan state, the information team said.

Two Killed In Firework Blast In Eastern Myanmar

YANGON, Oct 20 (NNN-MNA) – Two people were killed in a firework explosion, in eastern Myanmar’s Shan State, an official from the Fire Services Department of Langkho said, yesterday.

The blast occurred around 8:30 a.m. local time on Wednesday, in Langkho township.

A man started a motorcycle sidecar, which leaked oil, causing the engine to heat up. Meanwhile, the sidecar, loaded with fireworks, caught fire and resulted in an explosion.

2 killed, 4 injured in ambulance crash in Myanmar's Yangon

YANGON, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and four others injured as an ambulance crashed into a truck in Myanmar's Yangon, an official from a local rescue organization said on Monday.

The crash took place near a junction in Shwepyitha township in Yangon at around 7:45 p.m. local time when an ambulance swerved to avoid a pedestrian crossing the road but ended up colliding with a truck, the rescue official said.

Myanmar earns over 4 bln USD from manufacturing goods exports in over 5 months

YANGON, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar earned over 4.46 billion U.S. dollars from exports of manufacturing goods in over five months (from April 1 to Sept. 15) of the present fiscal year 2023-2024, according to figures released by the Commerce Ministry on Thursday.

The figure was over 1.04 billion dollars less than that of the same period last year when the country registered over 5.51 billion dollars.

The manufacturing goods sector topped the list in terms of the most export value, followed by agriculture and fishery sectors.
