Sudan: Heavy bombing south of Khartoum leaves 17 dead

01 June 2023; MEMO: The Sudan Doctors Syndicate announced on Wednesday that 17 people were killed and 106 injured as a result of heavy bombing in the Mayo district, south of the capital, Khartoum.

The non-governmental medical syndicate disclosed in a statement: "The Mayo area (Market 6) witnessed violent and bloody bombing this afternoon, leaving 17 dead and more than 106 injuries, 36 of which required surgical intervention."

Sudan Army, RSF agree to extend ceasefire for 5 days

30 May 2023; MEMO: Sudan's warring factions have agreed to extend a ceasefire truce for a further five days, as the initial imperfect agreement, nevertheless, enabled aid to be brought into the country.

In a joint statement yesterday by the United States and Saudi Arabia, the two main mediators in the conflict, the week-long ceasefire, which initially began on Monday last week, has now been extended by five days.

KHARTOUM, May 30 (NNN-AGENCIES) – The United States and Saudi Arabia said late Monday that a humanitarian truce, repeatedly violated by warring sides in Sudan, has been extended by five days.
 
   The mediators “welcome agreement by the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to a five-day extension of the ceasefire agreement they signed on May 20, 2023,” a joint statement said.
 

Sudan crisis: Sporadic shelling as combat eases after ceasefire

KHARTOUM, May 24 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Sporadic artillery fire still echoed in Sudan’s capital Tuesday but residents said fighting had calmed following a US and Saudi-brokered ceasefire, raising faint hopes in the embattled city.

The truce, to allow desperately needed humanitarian aid for civilians, took effect Monday night only to be quickly marred by more gunshots and blasts.

Sudan: Army, RSF agree to 7-day humanitarian truce, cease-fire

22 May 2023; MEMO: The Sudanese army and Rapid Support Forces agreed Saturday to a seven-day cease-fire, according to Al Jazeera, based on sources from the Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry, Anadolu reports.

Saudi-funded Al-Arabiya television reported that the agreement between the army and the paramilitary group will take effect in 48 hours.

It includes allowing armed groups involved in the conflict to evacuate hospitals and facilitating the repair of facilities serving the public.

Sudan's Arab Summit representative: 'We will pardon the rebels if they put down their arms'

20 May 2023; MEMO: The representative of Sudan at the Arab Summit in Saudi Arabia announced on Friday: "If the forces (Rapid Support Forces) that rebelled against peace lay down their arms, we will pardon them."

During a speech before the Arab Summit in Jeddah, the representative of Sudan Dafa-Allah Al-Haj Yousef added: "We stress that if the rebel forces lay down their arms, we will pardon them. We are not warmongers, but they forced this on us."

Sudan Army head Al-Burhan dismisses RSF head Hemedti

19 May 2023; MEMO: Sudan's head of the Army and the Council, General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, has dismissed his deputy, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo (Hemedti), who also serves as the head of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Anadolu News Agency reports.

The Sovereignty Council announced the dismissal in a statement on Friday, which comes amid an ongoing war between the two sides for more than a month.

Fighting continues between Sudan's warring parties in capital Khartoum

KHARTOUM, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Clashes continued on Monday between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), with eastern parts of the capital Khartoum witnessing intense bombardment by the army's air force.

"A large logistical supply of weapons, ammunition and fuel belonging to the rebel militia has been dealt with in a qualitative operation that targeted some areas in Sharq Al-Neel (eastern Nile) locality and bases around the East Nile Hospital," the army said in a statement.

At Least 676 People Killed In Sudan Clashes: UN

KHARTOUM, May 15 (NNN-SUNA) – At least 676 people have been killed, due to the clashes between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), according to a report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), yesterday.

“Clashes between the Sudan Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces continued for 30 consecutive days, especially in and around Khartoum, killing at least 676 people and injuring 5,576, OCHA said.
