India: New airport to be built on Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway

Kanpur: A new international airport will be built on the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway.

At the same time, the existing Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport will be used for cargo.

The LDA has also sent the City Development Plan made as a vision document along with the proposal for the need of the new airport to the government for approval.

According to the CDP, it will be necessary to start a new airport by the year 2037.

The capacity of the existing airport is completed.

About 6,000 acres of land would be required to build a new airport by spending Rs 11,520 crore. It can be found on the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway.

According to the proposal, international and two domestic flights depart from terminal one of the existing airport built on 1187 acres.

The biggest problem is that land is not available even to increase the length of the runway.

At present, the minimum runway standard for international flights is 4.7 km., according to the news.
