DAMASCUS, Jun 9 (NNN-SANA) – Syria’s Industry Minister, Abdul Qader Jokhadar, vowed to restore the country’s industry to levels before the 12-year-war, the pro-government al-Watan online daily, reported yesterday.

He said that, the government is aware of the importance of the industrial sector and its contribution to boosting the national economy, vowing the status of the Syrian industry would be restored to what it used to be before the eruption of the Syrian war.

Jokhadar said that, Syria possesses national products that “we are proud of, and it’s capable of competing in global markets.”

“Our mission is to multiply these achievements, enhance the local industrial value, and open new markets, based on the quality of the Syrian product and its reasonable prices,” he added.

He pointed out that, the work is currently focused on investing in all production capacities, while giving attention to quality and competitive advantages in public sector products.

In 2020, Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, said that, the U.S. and Western sanctions on Syria had caused damage to the Syrian people, adding that, the response should be increasing production.

The response to the economic siege, Assad stressed, came through increasing the production process in all sectors and the Syrian government will work on removing obstacles in the face of investments.
