India: Re-release of biopic on Modi does not attract poll code: EC

New Delhi, Oct 31 (PTI) The "re-release" of a biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi does not attract provisions of the model code of conduct, the Election Commission has concluded.

Responding to a recent complaint by a private citizen that the reported release of the biopic in cinema halls during the Bihar assembly polls was in violation of the poll code, the poll panel concluded "re-release" did not attract provisions of the model code in this matter, sources said on Saturday.

India: Manjhi announces return to NDA ahead of Bihar polls

Patna, Sep 2 (PTI) Former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Wednesday announced that his Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) has joined NDA in Bihar where assembly elections are due in October-November.

The party had earlier in the day said that it will become part of the ruling coalition on Thursday, but the announcement was made this afternoon itself by Manjhi at a peess conference he held at his residence here.

India: UMMnews Exit Poll predicts AAP to get maximum seats

Delhi; 09 February 2020 (UMM): Most of the txit polls for the Delhi assembly election on Saturday predicted a victory for Aam Aadmi Party with some indicating that it can even repeat its 2015 numbers when it swept 67 seats out of 70.

Ummnews poll forecast 48-56 seats for the AAP and 13-21 for the BJP and just one for Congress.

India: Exit polls predict big win for AAP

New Delhi, Feb 8 (PTI) Exit polls for the Delhi assembly election on Saturday predicted a big victory for Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party with some indicating that it can even repeat its 2015 landslide when it had bagged 67 seats in the 70-member House.

The India Today-Axis poll forecast 59-68 seats for the AAP and 2-11 for the BJP, while the ABP-CVoter put the Delhi's ruling party's tally at anywhere between 49 and 63 and that of its main rival between five to 19.

India: Delhi records voter turnout of 57 pc till 6 pm; figure likely to rise

New Delhi, Feb 8 (PTI) Delhi recorded a voter turnout of 57.06 pc till 6 pm, even as polling at some booths was underway and the figure is likely to rise, Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh said on Saturday.

Polling officially ends at 6 pm. But voters, who enter polling stations till 6 pm, are allowed to cast their vote.

Singh said there were long queues at many polling booths.

India: BJP asks 240 MPs to campaign in Delhi colonies

New Delhi, Feb 4 (PTI) With only three days left for the Delhi poll campaign to end, the BJP has drafted its 240 MPs in its push to capture power in the national capital and asked them to campaign for the party in colonies populated mostly by poor voters.

BJP president J P Nadda made the announcement at its parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday, party sources said.

India: Delhi polls: Cong promises unemployment allowance, cashback schemes, free electricity up to 300 units

New Delhi, Feb 2 (PTI) The Congress on Sunday promised to implement unemployment allowance of Rs 5,000-7,500 per month, cashback schemes for water and power consumers and challenge the contentious CAA in the Supreme Court if voted to power in Delhi.

The manifesto presented by Delhi Congress chief Subhash Chopra also committed to spend 25 per cent budget each year on fighting pollution and improving transport facilities.

India: BJP's Kapil Mishra faces 48-hour campaigning ban following controversial tweets

New Delhi, Jan 25 (PTI) The Election Commission on Saturday imposed a 48-hour campaigning ban on BJP candidate from Delhi's Model Town constituency Kapil Mishra following his controversial tweets, poll panel officials said.

The ban order, signed by the Chef Election Commissioner and two fellow Election Commissioners, would come into force from 5 PM on Saturday, they said.

India: 1,029 candidates filed 1,528 nominations for Delhi polls

New Delhi, Jan 22 (PTI) As many as 1,029 candidates have filed 1,528 nominations for the Delhi Assembly polls on February 8, according to data shared by the poll panel.

On the last day of filing nominations on Tuesday, over 800 nominations were filed for the 70 assembly constituencies, which go to polls on February 8.

As many as 1,029 candidates, including 187 women, have filed a total of 1,528 nominations, an official from the office of Delhi chief electoral officer said.

India: JD(U) in talks with BJP over Delhi assembly polls

Patna, Jan 15 (PTI) The Janata Dal (United) headed by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is exploring a tie-up with the BJP for the upcoming assembly polls in Delhi, a senior leader said here on Wednesday.

"I am in talks with the BJP leadership. Once things finalised, we will be in a position to share details like seat-sharing," JD (U) national general secretary Sanjay Jha disclosed this at a function held to mark Makar Sankranti here.
