BEIRUT, December 29. /TASS/: The Israeli Air Force has launched another missile attack on the positions of the Syrian troops near Damascus, the SANA news agency reported, citing a senior Syrian defense official.

According to the source, the Syrian air defense systems opened fire on enemy targets. "Syrian anti-aircraft gunners managed to repel the Israeli aggressive attack, some of the enemy's missiles were hit on the approach to the capital," the defense official said.

He specified that the attack on Damascus took place at 1:20 a.m. (10:20 p.m. GMT) from the direction of the Golan Heights. "As a result, there was damage, there were no manpower losses," the spokesman said.

Earlier on Thursday, Israeli jets struck the outskirts of the Syrian capital at 11:05 p.m. local time (8:05 GMT). Syrian air defenses hit most of the Israeli missiles. The Al Hadath TV channel said that the strikes targeted Damascus International Airport, which resumed operations two days ago after being knocked out by an Israeli airstrike on November 26.
