Malaysia disappointed over U.S. veto on Palestine's UN membership

KUALA LUMPUR, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia on Friday expressed its disappointment over a U.S. decision to use its veto to deny Palestine's full membership in the United Nations.

It also called into question the sincerity of the United States to realize the inalienable rights of the Palestinians, including their right to self-determination, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"Malaysia is deeply concerned and utterly disappointed that a veto has been exercised to block the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) from admitting Palestine as a full member of the United Nations on April 18, 2024, despite the clarion call by an overwhelming majority of UN Member States," it said.

It added that Malaysia will continue to support the Palestinian cause.
