Australia: Racial attack on Indian student, in critical condition

Shubham Garg stabbed in Sydney

Sydney; 7 Oct 2022 (UMMN): A PhD student from India was stabbed multiple times to his face, chest and abdomen in Sydney’s Artamon. He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital and underwent surgery. He remains in a serious but stable condition.

Shubham Garg 28-year-old came to Australia (Sydney) in September to do his PhD in Mechanical engineering from the University of NSW. He finished his master’s degree at IIT Chennai.

emergency services were called at about 10.30 pm on 6 October 2022. The North Shore Police Area Command attended and located Shubham and established a crime scene.  

A 27-year-old Daniel Norwood was arrested at the scene and was taken to Chatswood Police Station where he was charged with one count of attempted murder.
