New Delhi, Sep 22 (PTI) Upping the ante over the Rafale issue, Congress president Rahul Gandhi Saturday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Anil Ambani jointly carried out a Rs 130,000 crore "surgical strike" on the defence forces.

His renewed attack on Modi came a day after a French media report quoted former French president Francois Hollande as purportedly saying that the Indian government proposed Ambani's Reliance Defence as the partner for Dassault Aviation in the Rs 58,000 crore Rafale jet fighter deal and France did not have a choice.

Delhi Asst Com of Police booked for raping woman, molesting minor

Ramesh Dahiya, an Assistant Comissioner of Polce in Delhi, has been booked for alleged rape of a woman and molesting her daughter.

According to The Indian Express, “woman had alleged that she came in contact with Dahiya when he was posted as Station House Officer (SHO)”.

Woman alleged that Dahiya raped her. She also alleged that he molested her minor daughter when she was not at home.

India: JNUSU statement on comments made by Nirmala Sitharaman

New Delhi, Sept 19; GANASHAKTI: The JNUSU is deeply dismayed by the statements made by Union Minister and former JNU alumnus, Nirmala Sitharaman.

As a former student of this university and as a senior minister, such statements calling JNUSU members anti-India and 'waging a war against India' is utterly baseless and condemnable.

We see this as a continuation of the systematic slander against the JNU students and faculty that has resulted in numerous attacks on students and teachers, such as the one on Sanjay Kumar in Motihari, Bihar or elsewhere.

Assam NRC: SC orders resumption of claims and objections

New Delhi, Sep 19; GANASHAKTI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday opened the filing of claims and objections for inclusion and exclusion of names in the final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) of Assam, in which around 40 lakh people have been left out.

A bench headed by CJI-designate Ranjan Gogoi made it clear that second opportunity was being given to those left out of the NRC, keeping in mind the "enormous magnitude" of the issue.

It said the claims and objections can be filed for 60 days starting September 25.

Attack on Cong workers is political persecution: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, Sep 19 (PTI) Declaring that "dictatorship has become a vocation" in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's regime, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi Wednesday said people in Chhattisgarh will remember the attack on his party's workers in Bilaspur as an act of "political persecution".

Taking to Twitter a day after police beat up protesting Congress workers in the Chhattisgarh town, leaving several injured, the Congress president trained his guns on the BJP-led Raman Singh government in the state and also tagged a video of the incident.

Gateman's hands hacked for refusal to open level crossing gate

New Delhi, Sep 17; PTI: Two bike-borne assailants severed the hands of gateman Kundan Pathak after he refused to open a level crossing gate in north Delhi's Narela area because a train was approaching, railway officials said Monday.

Pathak, 28, is undergoing major surgery to restore the limbs after the assault Sunday night, at a city hospital, they said.

He also received serious injuries to his legs and neck.

Plea in HC challenging DUSU poll results

New Delhi, Sep 17 (PTI) A plea has been moved in the Delhi High Court Monday challenging the Delhi University Students' Union election results.

The plea filed by three candidates alleged that EVMs were tampered with and questioned how "privately procured" EVMs could have been used in the polls held on September 12.

The candidates sought securing of the Electronic Voting Machines used in the DUSU elections.

Sterlite Tech aims 10% global fibre market share by June 2020

New Delhi, Sep 17 (PTI) Broadband technology provider Sterlite Tech is looking at commanding 10 per cent share of the global fibre market by June 2020, company's chief executive Anand Agarwal said Monday.

The company is also focussed on enhancing production capacity of optical fibre and optical fibre cables.

"We are now looking to move fibre market share from 6-7 per cent to 10 per cent of global by June 2020," Agarwal told PTI.
