Serbia officially starts to produce Russia's COVID-19 vaccine

BELGRADE, June 4 (Xinhua) -- The production of Russia's Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine officially started on Friday at the Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Sera "Torlak" in Belgrade, the Serbian government confirmed in a press release.

The production, launched by the institute director Vera Stoiljkovic, was witnessed by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, via a video meeting.

Serbia, Greece, Cyprus vow to enhance trilateral ties

BELGRADE, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Foreign ministers of Serbia, Greece and Cyprus met in Belgrade on Monday, vowing to improve economic cooperation and stimulate development.

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias and Nikos Christodoulides, Foreign Minister of Cyprus, met with their Serbian counterpart Nikola Selakovic to find ways to pursue the joint interest of their countries in trilateral cooperation.

Serbian president receives injection of Chinese COVID-19 vaccine

BELGRADE, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Tuesday received an injection of China's Sinopharm vaccine against COVID-19 in the country's eastern municipality of Majdanpek.

"I feel great, like nothing happened," he said after the inoculation.

China has provided vaccines to Serbia to help the Balkan country fight the COVID-19 epidemic, with the latest shipment arriving in Belgrade on Monday.

Serbia: World Bank sees Western Balkan economies rebounding to growth in 2021

BELGRADE (Reuters) - The economies of the six countries in the Western Balkans could grow by 4.4% in 2021, up from a 4.8% contraction in 2020, if the region successfully emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Bank said on Wednesday.

In a macroeconomic update for Europe and Central Asia, the lender estimated that the economies of Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Albania could grow 3.7% in 2022.

“Despite this improvement, per capita income is anticipated to remain 6.5% below pre-pandemic projections by 2022,” the report said.

Montenegro launches anti-COVID vaccination with Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine

BELGRADE, February 21. /TASS/: Montenegro has launched anti-coronavirus vaccination in the country using Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine, the press office of the Public Health Institute of Montenegro reported on late Saturday adding that first jabs of the vaccine were delivered at care houses for elderly.

"The team of our Institute and Kotor hospital has delivered the first shot of the vaccine in Montenegro," the press service said in a statement.
