Zambian president condemns South Africa xenophobic attacks

LUSAKA, Sept 5 (NNN-Xinhua) — Zambian President Edgar Lungu condemned the ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The Zambian leader said the attacks deserve to be condemned in all its forms and manifestations.

“Attacks of this nature targeted at foreign nations call for urgent concerted measures by the South African government and the regional bodies,” he said in a statement.

He further assured that leaders were working on solutions to combat xenophobia and bring back the spirit of togetherness.

Zambian president calls for more intra-Africa trade

LUSAKA, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Zambian President Edgar Lungu on Monday stressed the need for African countries to trade more with each other before looking to the outside world.

He made the remarks while meeting with a visiting delegation from the Federation of Egyptian Industries that is in the country to explore investment opportunities.

The Zambian leader said visits by African business delegations need to be encouraged in Africa's quest to trade more within the continent.

Construction of Chinese funded Zambia mega dam on course

MASAITI, Zambia, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Construction works of a dam in Zambia's Masaiti district on the Copperbelt Province funded by the Chinese government was on course, the contractor said on Tuesday.

Construction works of the 450 million U.S. dollars Kafulafuta Dam was commissioned in October last year by President Edgar Lungu.

Bruce Zhu, a business manager with the China National Complete Engineering Corporation, said about 23 percent of works have so far been done and that everything was on schedule.
