VIENNA, September 8. /TASS/: Attempts to weaken Russia did not succeed. Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Thursday.

"Eleven thousand sanctions are currently in effect against Russia but the war continues and attempts to weaken Russians were not crowned with success," Orban said, cited by MTI news agency.

Hungary "will have enough gas" in winter and there is no need to halt production at plants in the country, the Prime Minister said. "Energy will be enough for everyone and everybody who wants to invest and produce can come and invest here," he added.

OPEC+ cut oil production fearing economic downturn

06 Sep 2022; MEMO: The influential energy alliance known as OPEC+ yesterday agreed to cut oil production by about 10,000 barrels per day, starting from October.

According to news agencies and analysts, the production cut surprised the international energy markets at a time of considerable dispute between Russia and the West over the latter's war in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the energy alliance left the door open for more talks and discussions over production and prices, based on market updates.

OPEC+: Oil to see tighter market in 2022

01 September 2022; MEMO: The oil market will have a small surplus of just 0.4 million barrels per day in 2022, much less than previously forecasted, according to OPEC+, due to underproduction, Reuters reported OPEC+ sources saying.

The report comes days ahead of an OPEC+ policy meeting on 5 September and over a week after OPEC leader Saudi Arabia said the group may cut oil output.

Iran steps up underground uranium enrichment, IAEA report says

VIENNA, Aug 29 (Reuters) - Iran is pressing ahead with its rollout of an upgrade to its advanced uranium enrichment programme, a report by the U.N. nuclear watchdog seen by Reuters on Monday showed, even as the West awaits Iran's response on salvaging its 2015 nuclear deal.

The first of three cascades, or clusters, of advanced IR-6 centrifuges recently installed at the underground Fuel Enrichment Plant (FEP) at Natanz is now enriching, the report said, the latest underground site at which the advanced machines have come onstream.

Austria backs EU cap to end 'madness' of runaway power prices

VIENNA, Aug 28 (Reuters) - Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer backs a European Union-wide cap on runaway electricity prices, he said in a statement issued by his office on Sunday.

Austria's conservative-led government was initially sceptical at the idea of capping power prices but it has warmed to the idea as they have continued to rise in line with soaring gas prices following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

IAEA says it could visit Russian-held Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant in days

VIENNA, Aug 23 (Reuters) - The U.N. nuclear watchdog will visit the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine within days if talks to gain access succeed, it said in a statement on Tuesday.

Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly accused each other of firing at the Zaporizhzhia facility, which pro-Moscow forces took over soon after the Feb. 24 invasion. The United Nations has called for the area to be demilitarised.

Russia never stood in the way of return to JCPOA, envoy says

VIENNA, August 15./TASS/: Russia has never obstructed and does not intend to obstruct the restoration of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran's nuclear program, Russia's Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov wrote on Twitter on Monday.

"Russia never was and will not be an obstacle on the way towards restoration of the JCPOA," the envoy tweeted.

EU proposes "final text" for reviving Iran nuclear deal

VIENNA, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- The European Union has put forward a final text of the draft decision on reviving the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, Russia's chief negotiator to the Iran nuclear talks Mikhail Ulyanov said on Monday.

Ulyanov, who is also Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, tweeted that "the participants in the Vienna talks now need to decide if the draft is acceptable for them. In case of no objection, the nuclear deal will be restored."
