Jordan, Rwanda Ink Deal To Waive Visa Requirements On Regular Passports

AMMAN, Aug 10 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan and Rwanda, yesterday, signed an agreement exempting ordinary passport holders in both countries from visa requirements.

The agreement was signed in the Jordanian capital, Amman, during the second round of strategic dialogue between the two countries, according to the report.

Jordan’s FM Calls For End To “Illegal Israeli Actions” Against Palestine

AMMAN, Jul 28 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan’s Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, urged an end to “all illegal Israeli actions” that undermine the two-state solution, during a joint press conference with visiting British Foreign Secretary, James Cleverly, in the capital, Amman.

Safadi condemned Israeli extremists for storming the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and performing “provocative” religious rituals, in violation of international law.

Jordan, Syria Discuss Joint Efforts To Combat Cross-Border Drug Trafficking

AMMAN, Jul 24 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan and Syria, yesterday, held a meeting in Amman, to discuss cooperation, to prevent drug smuggling across the Syrian borders into Jordan.

The meeting, also the inaugural meeting of the Jordanian-Syrian Joint Committee for Combating Drug Smuggling, focused on the pressing threats posed by drug trafficking to the entire region.

Jordan and Syria agreed to form the joint committee, during the visit of Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi to Syria, on Jul 3.

UN Refugee Agency Calls For Immediate Action To Address Funding Crisis In Jordan

AMMAN, Jul 19 (NNN-PETRA) – The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), yesterday, called for taking immediate action to address its funding crisis, to avoid dire consequences for refugees.

Dominik Bartsch, the UN refugee agency’s representative in Jordan, said that, the current shortfall in funding for refugee response is threatening the significant progress made over the past decade, the state-run Al Mamlaka TV reported.

Jordan signs 250-mln-USD deal with World Bank to finance water project

AMMAN, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Sunday signed a 250-million-U.S. dollar agreement with the World Bank Group to finance a water efficiency project for the kingdom.

The agreement was signed by Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan and World Bank Middle East Country Director Jean-Christophe Carret, according to a ministry statement.

UN Official In Jordan Voices Concern Over Funding Shortfall

AMMAN, Jul 14 (NNN-PETRA) – The United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator in Jordan, Sheri Ritsema-Anderson, yesterday, expressed her concern about the funding shortfall that may lead to disruption of services, to both Jordanians and refugees in the coming months.

“I am deeply concerned by funding shortfalls that are threatening to interrupt key activities that support both Jordanians and refugees in the next months,” she was quoted as saying, by a press release from the UN office in Jordan.

Jordan calls for 'immediate action' to halt Israeli military operation in Jenin

03 July 2023; MEMO: Jordan called on Monday for immediate action by the international community to halt the Israeli military operation in the Palestinian city of Jenin in the occupied West Bank. Six Palestinians were killed by the Israeli army earlier today, including five in Jenin, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. Twenty-seven Palestinians were wounded.

Jordan Downs Drone Along Border With Syria

AMMAN, Jun 29 (NNN-PETRA) – The Jordan Armed Forces said yesterday that, its eastern regional forces shot down a drone coming from Syria, the third drone intercepted this month.

The Jordanian forces downed the drone within the kingdom’s territory, after its illegal border crossing from Syria was detected by the Jordanian border guards, anti-narcotics department, and military intelligence, a military source said.

The report added that, items carried by the drone were seized, without detailing.
