10 Aug 2019; MEMO: Sudan’s Transitional Military Council has decided to cancel death sentences against leaders of the north division of the People’s Liberation Movement.

Spokesman for the Military Council, Shamsiddeen Kabbashi, said that the head of the Military Council Abdul-Fattah Burhan cancelled the death sentences against rebel leader Malik Agar, his deputy Yasser Imran and others, Al Khaleej Online reported yesterday.

KHARTOUM, July 28 (Xinhua) -- African Union (AU) envoy to Sudan on Sunday announced that talks between Sudan's Transitional Military Council (TMC) and the opposition Freedom and Change Alliance would resume on July 30.

The two negotiating delegations of the TMC and the opposition alliance have been invited to resume talks on July 30 in the capital Khartoum to finalize the constitutional declaration and other related issues, said a statement by the AU envoy's office Sunday.

KHARTOUM, Sudan (AP) — Tens of thousands of Sudanese flooded the streets of the capital of Khartoum and other cities Saturday to mark the 40th day since the deadly dispersal of a protest sit-in, and a protest leader said a planned a meeting with the country’s ruling generals to sign a power-sharing deal was postponed until Sunday.

The “Justice First” marches were called by the Sudanese Professionals’ Association, which has been spearheading the protests since December. Those demonstrations led to the military ouster of autocratic president Omar al-Bashir in April.
