KHARTOUM, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- South Sudan's major opposition group on Tuesday agreed to sign on a final peace deal after declining to do so earlier on the day, announced Sudan's Foreign Ministry in a statement.

The latest round of South Sudan peace talks ended earlier on Tuesday in the Sudanese capital Khartoum, where South Sudan's government and other political parties signed a final deal on ending the internal conflict.

However, the major opposition group, Sudan People's Liberation Movement-in-Opposition (SPLM-IO) led by Riek Machar, had declined to sign the deal.

KHARTOUM, 10 Aug 2018; AA: Sudan’s ruling National Congress Party nominated President Omar Al-Bashir for a third term at an urgent meeting of the national Shura (consultation) council Thursday.

Following the meeting, the head of the council told reporters in Khartoum that the council had endorsed Bashir’s nomination after long consultations among the party’s leadership.

Bashir’s term should end in 2020, according to Sudan’s constitution.

The 74-year-old was first elected to office in 2010.

KHARTOUM, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- South Sudan's conflicting parties on Sunday signed a final deal in the Sudanese capital Khartoum on power-sharing and security arrangements.

The deal, reached through talks brokered by the Sudanese government with a mandate by the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development in Africa, was signed by South Sudanese President Salva Kiir, major opposition leader Riek Machar and representatives of other South Sudanese opposition factions.

KHARTOUM, July 25 (Xinhua) -- South Sudan's conflicting parties on Wednesday signed an agreement on power-sharing and governance in Sudan's capital Khartoum.

The agreement, read out by Sudanese Foreign Minister Al-Dirdiri Mohamed Ahmed, said Salva Kiir will continue to serve as President of Sudan during the transitional period, while the opposition leader Riek Machar will assume the position of First Vice President.

There will be four vice presidents from different political parties as stated in the agreement.
