Death toll of Houthi-claimed ballistic missile attack in Yemen's Aden climbs to 38

ADEN, Yemen, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from a Houthi-fired ballistic missile that targeted a pro-government military base in Yemen's southern port city of Aden Thursday climbed to 38, local officials told Xinhua.

The huge blast caused by a Houthi-fired ballistic missile against the military base of the newly-recruited Yemeni army force in Buraiqa district, in Aden's western part, left around 38 soldiers killed and scores of others injured at the scene, a military official said on condition of anonymity.

Car bombing strikes police station in Yemen's Aden, kills 4

ADEN, Yemen, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- At least four members of the newly-recruited security forces were killed Thursday morning in a car bombing against a police station in Yemen's southern port city of Aden, a government official told Xinhua.

"A car loaded with explosives struck the police station based in Sheikh Othman neighborhood of Aden province, causing a huge explosion that rocked the city," the local government source said on condition of anonymity.

Saudi-led coalition launches airstrikes on Houthi-held camp in Yemen's capital

SANAA, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Warplanes from the Saudi-led coalition launched a series of airstrikes on a military camp held by Houthi rebels in the Yemeni capital Sanaa late on Monday, residents and Houthi-run media said.

The attack targeted al-Sawad military camp in the southeast of Sanaa.

Windows of sveral houses in the residential neighbourhoods surrounding the camp were partly smashed during the airstrikes, according to the residents.

There was no immediate comment from the coalition, and there were no Houthi reports of casualties from the airstrikes.

Saudi air raids kill more than 10 in Yemen

30 July 2019; MEMO: Airstrikes killed more than 10 civilians including children in a market in Yemen’s northern Saada province on Monday, a medical source and Houthi-run media reported, says Reuters.

The manager of the local Al Jomhouri hospital said 13 people were killed and 23 injured in airstrikes in Qatabir district by a Saudi-led coalition battling the Iran-aligned Houthi group in Yemen. Al Masirah TV said more than 10 civilians were killed.

Suspension of food aid puts thousands of Yemenis at risk of starvation

ADEN, Yemen, June 23 (Xinhua) -- The UN World Food Program (WFP) has begun to partially suspend food assistance operations to areas of war-torn Yemen under the control of Houthi rebels, putting thousands of hungry people at risk of starvation.

The UN agency, which is feeding more than 10 million people across Yemen, repeatedly complained of some "obstructive and uncooperative" Houthi leaders who interfered with food distribution in the country's northern areas.

Yemen's Houthi rebels claim drone attacks on Saudi air base

SANAA, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's Houthi rebels said they launched multiple drone attacks on a Saudi military base in the Saudi Arabia's southwestern province of Asir in late night of Monday, the rebels TV al-Masirah reported.

The attacks targeted King Khaled Airbase in Khamis Mushait city of Asir, the Houthi television said.

There was no confirmation from Saudi Arabia.

3 killed as heavy rains hit southern, eastern Yemen

ADEN, Yemen, June 9 (Xinhua) -- At least three people died in Yemen following heavy rains and flood that struck several parts of the country's southern and eastern provinces over the past few hours on Sunday.

An Aden-based security official told Xinhua that torrential rains, lightning and high winds also caused a number of injuries in addition to blocking main roads in Aden and other neighboring provinces.
