20 Feb 2020; MEMO: Tunisia’s designated Prime Minister Elyes Fakhfakh on Wednesday named a new coalition government after reaching an agreement with Ennahda moderate Islamist Party, the biggest power in Parliament, ending an ongoing political crisis of four months, Reuters reports.

With this agreement, the proposed government will likely win a confidence vote in Parliament in the coming days and the country will avoid an early election.

TUNIS, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Prime Minister-designate Elyes Fakhfakh has just announced on Wednesday evening the final lineup of his proposed government, said the Tunisian presidency.

The new cabinet is composed of 30 ministers and two secretaries of state.

Fakhfakh's government included 17 independents between ministers and secretaries of state while the rest is divided between six political parties, obviously represented in parliament.

19 Feb 2020; MEMO: Tunisian President Kais Saied announced yesterday, Monday, that he would call for early elections and dissolve parliament if the deputies rejected the government of Prime Minister-designate Elyes Fakhfakh after Ennahdha party refused to recognise it.

Fakhfakh revealed on Saturday his government’s components, which quickly collided with the obstacle of Ennahdha’s announcement that it rejected it and withdrew from it.

TUNIS, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Prime Minister-designate Elyes Fakhfakh announced on Saturday the lineup of his proposed government.

The new cabinet is composed of 31 members, including 29 ministers and two secretaries of state.

Among the government members are six women of four ministers and two secretaries of state.

TUNIS, Feb 6 (NNN-TAP) – Hundreds of Tunisians, on Wednesday, marched in the centre of the capital Tunis, in protest of the newly unveiled U.S. Middle East peace plan.

The protesters include members of civil society, professional organisations and political parties, as well as, independent activists.

“Palestine is not and will never be for sale,” said Noureddine Taboubi, secretary-general of the Tunisian General Labour Union, organiser of the march.

“Al-Quds (Jerusalem) is the eternal capital of the Palestinian people,” he added.

02 Feb 2020; MEMO: Tunisian prime minister-designate, Elyes Fakhfakh, confirmed that the participating parliament parties will approve his government’s program next Saturday.

This came in a press conference held by Fakhfakh in Carthage, where he indicated that ten parties expressed their willingness to participate in the government that will be formed.

TUNIS, Tunisia, Jan 25 (NNN-TAP) – The French and Tunisian naval forces, on Friday, conducted a joint military exercise, off the northern Tunisian coast, the Tunisian defence ministry said, in a statement.

The joint war game involved the Tunisian high-sea patrol vessel, Syphax 611, and the French navy’s amphibious assault ship and helicopter carrier, Le Dixmude L9015, read the statement.

The MoU was signed by acting Tunisian Foreign Minister Sabri Bachtobji and visiting Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

The two officials discussed various aspects of Tunisian-Indian cooperation as well as a host of regional and international issues of common interest, according to a ministry statement.

12 Jan 2019; MEMO: The government Tunisian Prime Minister-designate Habib Jemli fell Saturday after a no-confidence vote in parliament, Anadolu reports.

The Jemli government failed to get a vote of confidence from the Tunisian assembly, Rachid Ghannouchi, the parliament speaker announced following the vote.

The government managed just 72 votes with 134 deputies against, Parliament Speaker Rachid Ghannouchi announced after the session that lasted more than 10 hours.
