TUNIS, April 30 (Xinhua): Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi and Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte on Tuesday called for dialogue to stop the fighting in Libya and settle the crisis there.

"Dialogue is the only way to avoid escalation and guarantee the unity and stability of Libya," Conte was quoted as saying in a press release by the Tunisian presidency.

Essebsi received Conte in Tunis, where he was attending the first session of the Tunisian-Italian Higher Council of Strategic Partnership.

TUNIS, April 1. /TASS/. Tunisia’s company TELNET on Monday signed a contract with the Russian operator of commercial launches of Soyuz-2 rockets GK Launch Services for putting in space Tunisia’s first satellite, the Webmanagercenter portal said.

The Tunisian group TELNET held a special ceremony at the Digital Research Center in Sfax on Monday of signing a contract for launching in 2020 its first satellite Challenge ONE with Russia’s Soyuz-2 rocket. Taking part in the ceremony were GK Launch Services CEO Alexander Serkin and TELNET CEO Mohamed Frikha.

TUNIS, March 31 (Xinhua) -- The 30th edition of Arab League (AL) Summit ended on Sunday evening, calling for the establishment of a Palestinian state and reiterating its strong support for two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

"It is unacceptable to continue the current situation that has turned the Arab world into a region of tensions and conflicts which threaten the security, stability and development of our countries," said Tunisian Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui, outlining the final statement of the summit.

TUNIS, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Arab leaders strongly rejected the U.S. decision to recognize the Golan Heights as Israeli territory at the 30th Arab League (AL) summit in the Tunisian capital Tunis on Sunday.

They said in a statement that Arab states would submit a draft resolution to the UN Security Council and seek an opinion from the International Court of Justice "on the illegality and invalidity of the American recognition," according to a Reuters report.

TUNIS, March 3 (Xinhua) -- The 36th session of the Arab Interior Ministers Council kicked off on Sunday in Tunis to discuss the common interests in strengthening Arab security cooperation.

"The Arab region is facing serious security challenges, especially terrorism crimes, cybercrimes, illegal immigration and human trafficking," said Tunisian Interior Minister Hichem Fourati at the opening.

These crimes threaten Arab security, and further work is needed to develop means of fighting them, Fourati added.

Tunisia revived Monday the eighth anniversary of the popular uprisings which resulted in the toppling of former President Zine al Abidine Ben Ali on Jan. 14, 2011.

Essebsi said that the country is plagued with a state of official uncertainty, and continued conflicts and divisions amid political tension and social unrest.

TUNIS, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- A total of 45 irregular migrants of African nationalities were rescued from a sinking boat off the island of Kerkennah in the province of Sfax in southeast Tunisia, Tunisian Interior Ministry said on Sunday evening.

The illegal boat came from the Libyan town of Zouara with 45 irregular migrants on board, including six women, two of whom were pregnant.

This is the second attempt of irregular migration intercepted by Tunisian maritime security forces during the last 24 hours.
