AMMAN, July 30 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan will hold its parliamentary elections on Nov 10, it was reported yesterday (Wednesday).

The date was set hours after King Abdullah issued a royal decree, ordering the parliamentary elections to be held.

Under the 2016 Elections Law, the Independent Election Commission will set the election date within ten days, after the royal decree orders the parliamentary elections.

30 July 2020; MEMO: King Abdullah II of Jordan yesterday issued a decree to hold parliamentary elections in the country, the Royal Court announced.

“The Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Wednesday announced that parliamentary elections will be held on November 10th later this year,” Petra news agency reported.

The royal decree means the dissolution of the parliament, which was elected on 20 September 2016, and the imminent departure of the government.

27 July 2020; MEMO: Jordan and the UN World Food Programme (WFP) have signed a $700 million agreement to support one million vulnerable Jordanians and refugees until 2022.

The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation in Amman said on Sunday that the agreement aims to protect the livelihoods of the most vulnerable Jordanians and refugees.

In 2019, the WFP contributed nearly $207 million in support to the local economy in Jordan through a number of activities and programmes.

AMMAN, July 27 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan signed an agreement yesterday, with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) worth 700 million U.S. dollars, to provide support to vulnerable Jordanians and refugees in the country.

Under the agreement, food and cash assistance will be provided to one million vulnerable Jordanians and refugees across the country between 2020-2022.

23 July 2020; MEMO: Almost 2,000 Jordanian teachers protested yesterday to demand the government abide by the agreement signed between the two parties in October 2019.

The march, which was organised by a number of teachers via social media, started in front of Mohammed Al-Fateh Mosque and headed to the headquarters of their union in the capital, Amman.
