25 Jan 2019; MEMO: The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the Israeli aggression on worshippers at Al-Aqsa Mosque, Quds Press reported.

AMMAN, Jan 23 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwaiti investor, Sheikh Meshal Al Sabah, announced a project to build a major oil refinery in the south of Jordan.

He made the announcement in Amman, saying, the production at the petroleum refinery in Maan Governorate, is set to begin in the second half of 2024.

The new investment, which obtained initial approval from Jordan’s Ministry of Energy on Tuesday, is divided into two sub-projects, he added.

It is a joint project by Jordanian, Kuwaiti and U.S. investors, according to Sabah news.

AMMAN, Jan 20 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan’s Lower House, on Sunday, endorsed a draft law that bans the import of Israeli gas to the country.

The lawmakers approved referring the bill to the government as a matter of urgency, Lower House Speaker, Atef Tarawneh, said.

He added that, as Jordan and Israel signed a peace deal in 1994, the endorsement of legislation should be in accordance with the Constitution.

The Lower House has repeatedly called on the government not to import Israeli gas.

AMMAN, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan on Saturday sent a letter to Iraqi President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi about tension de-escalation in the Gulf region.

In the letter delivered by Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, the Jordanian king highlighted the centrality of maintaining Iraq's sovereignty, safety and security to regional and international security, while voicing Jordan's full support for Iraq, according to a Foreign Ministry statement obtained by Xinhua.

06 Jan 2019; MEMO: Twenty-five members of Jordan’s parliament yesterday walked out of a session yesterday in protest against the country’s gas deal with Israel.

Officials were due to discuss the issue of waste in  the kingdom however MPs urged Parliament Speaker Atek Al-Tarawneh to change the topic at hand to the gas deal with Israel.

One MP asked the speaker: “Did not you hear what the aggressive entity [Israel] had said about its future after getting its revenues from the gas deal?”

05 Jan 2019; MEMO: On Friday, thousands of Jordanians participated in a massive rally to drop the gas agreement signed with Israel in 2016.

This comes as a part of the popular demands, which started in the early days of the signing of the agreement, and only two days after Amman and Tel Aviv announced the start of experimental operations of gas pumping.

02 Jan 2019; MEMO: Dozens of Jordanians on Tuesday participated in a protests against China’s treatment of Uyghur Muslim in China’s Xinjiang province.

The demonstration was organised by the Islamic Action Front, the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, in front of the Chinese embassy in the capital Amman.

The Front’s Secretary-General Murad Al-Adaileh and lawmaker Saud Abu Mahfouz of the Reform Bloc participated in the protest.
