Hyderabad, May 13 (PTI) Young leg-spinner Rahul Chahar earned lavish praise from none other than the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who termed him a "fabulous" talent, an opinion echoed by team's chief coach Mahela Jayawardene.

15 killed in road mishap in south India

NEW DELHI, May 11 (Xinhua): As many as 15 persons were killed and six injured in a road accident in India's southern state of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, local media reports said.

The road mishap occurred when a passenger bus collided with another vehicle in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district.

The injured were reportedly admitted in a nearby local hospital.

According to the media reports, while 13 people died instantly at the accident site, two others died in the hospital.

India: Missile destroyer 'INS Ranjit' decommissioned

Visakhapatnam, May 6 (PTI) Frontline missile destroyer of the Indian Navy'INS Ranjit' was decommissioned Monday at the Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam, after serving the Indian navy for 36 years.

INS Ranjit, the third of the five Kashin-class destroyers built by the erstwhile USSR, was commissioned on September 15 1983.

The ship was decommissioned ata solemn ceremony at the Naval Dockyard when the national flag, naval ensign and Commissioning Pennant were lowered.

Indian EC not letting state government discharge its duties: Andhra CM

New Delhi, Apr 26 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu Friday accused the Election Commission of usurping the powers of his government and preventing it from discharging its duties.

In a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora, he said the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Andhra Pradesh had reportedly told the media that the chief minister does not have the power to conduct review meetings as the model code of conduct is in force.

Indian Polls: Rahul refused alliance with AAP: Kejriwal

Vishakhanpatnam, April 1 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Monday said that Congress President Rahul Gandhi has refused to forge an alliance with the AAP for the Lok Sabha polls in the national capital.

Talking to reporters at the airport here, the AAP leader said he had met Gandhi recently and the Congress leader had refused to join hands with the AAP .

Asked about Congress' Delhi unit president Sheila Dikshit's remarks that Kejriwal never approached her for an alliance, the chief minister said, We have met Rahul Gandhi. Dikshit is not that important leader.

India: Ramzan fasting will not impact poll percentage: Owaisi

Hyderabad, Mar 11 (PTI) AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi Monday said coinciding of Lok Sabha polls with Ramzan would not hamper poll percentage, rubbishing claims made by some leaders to the effect.

The general election will be held from April 11 to May 19 and the results will be declared on May 23 while Ramzan is expected to commence either on May 5 or 6, depending on sighting of the moon and lasts about 29 days.

Indian election: AP headed for multi-cornered contest

Amaravati, Mar 11 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh appeared headed for a multi-cornered contest in the state assembly and Lok Sabha elections to be held on April 11, a do-or-die battle for major political parties, including ruling TDP.

Over 3.71 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise for electing 25 Lok Sabha members and 175 members of the state assembly in the polls, the first after the state was bifurcated to create Telangana.
