Jordan says recalled ambassador to return to Israel

AMMAN, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Jordanian foreign minister said on Monday that the country's ambassador to Israel will return to Tel Aviv after having been recalled over the Israeli continued detention of two Jordanians.

Ayman Safadi made the announcement at a press conference, where he said the ambassador will return to Israel on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Jordan is committed to the peace treaty with Israel and peace is a strategic Arab option, he noted.

Jordan Says No Renewal, Extension Of Land Lease To Israel

AMMAN, Nov 11 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan, on Sunday said, there will be no extension or renewal of an agreement which leases part of Jordan’s lands to Israel.

Early Sunday, King Abdullah II of Jordan announced the official termination of an agreement, which leases part of the kingdom’s lands to Israel.

“Today, I also announce the expiration of the Peace Treaty annexes on Baqoura and Ghumar, and the imposition of our full sovereignty over every inch of those lands,” the king said.

Jordan reaffirms two-state solution as only way to solve Palestinian issue

AMMAN, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Wednesday reaffirmed a two-state solution as the only way to resolve the Palestinian issue and to create comprehensive peace.

At a meeting in Amman with Thomas Greminger, secretary-general of Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi called for intensified efforts to achieve regional security, stability and peace, said a ministry statement.

Safadi also called on the international community to continue abiding by its commitment to the Syrian refugees.

Several tourists stabbed in Jordanian city near Roman ruins: police

AMMAN (Reuters) - Several tourists were stabbed on Wednesday in Jerash, a Jordanian city popular with foreign visitors, along with a local guide and a security guard, police said, adding that a man had been arrested.

A security source told Reuters three of the victims were Spanish women who had been taken to hospital.

Jerash is famed for its Roman ruins.

In Madrid, nobody at the Spanish foreign ministry was immediately available to comment.

Jordan PM Asks All Ministers To Resign Ahead Of Cabinet Reshuffle

AMMAN, Jordan, Nov 5 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordanian Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, asked on Monday, all ministers to resign, ahead of an upcoming cabinet reshuffle.

The reshuffle is expected in the next few days, according to Razzaz.

The prime minister thanked all ministers, for their service, saying, the reshuffle is meant to address current issues in the country.

The upcoming cabinet reshuffle will be the fourth, in the government of Razzaz, who was appointed in 2018, following the resignation of former Prime Minister, Hani Mulki.

Jordan Denies Reports Of Extending Land Lease To Israel

AMMAN, Oct 17 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan, on Wednesday, denied Israeli media reports that, Jordan had agreed to renew an agreement which leases part of the kingdom’s lands to Israel.

Jordanian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Sufian Qudah, said, Jordan did not agree to renew or extend this agreement with Israel, according to a foreign ministry statement.

Last year’s decision to terminate the deal was final, Qudah added.

In Oct, 2018, Jordan officially informed Israel of its decision not to renew an agreement that leases part of its lands to Israel.

IMF Concludes Visit To Jordan To Assess Economic Developments

AMMAN, Jordan, Sept 29 (NNN-PETRA) – An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission, concluded its recent visit to Jordan, to assess recent economic developments in the country, said a statement by the IMF on Saturday.

The new mission Chief for Jordan, Chris Jarvis, was introduced during the visit, it said.

A mission to complete the third review of the IMF’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) will take place after IMF holds its annual meetings in Oct, the statement added.
