Cambodia To Export More Milled Rice To China In Coming Years

PHNOM PENH, Nov 5 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia is expected to export more milled rice to China in coming years, thanks to the entry into force of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) trade deal, and the Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement (CCFTA) earlier this year, Song Saran, president of the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF), said.

A report released by CRF today, showed that, China remained a major buyer of Cambodia’s milled rice in the first 10 months of 2022.

Four Southeast Asian Countries Adopt Action Programme On Tourism Cooperation

PHNOM PENH, Nov 5 (NNN-AKP) – Tourism ministers of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV), adopted a three-year action programme on tourism cooperation, Cambodian Tourism Minister, Thong Khon, said yesterday.

The adoption was made during the sixth CLMV Tourism Ministers Meeting, which was convened on Thursday in Cambodia’s Siem Reap province, Khon said.

“We adopted action programme on CLMV Tourism Cooperation 2023-2025, which further focuses on promoting the realisation of ‘Four Countries, One Destination’,” he said.

Cambodian PM expresses deepest condolences over stampede in South Korea

PHNOM PENH, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Sunday expressed his deepest condolences to the victims and members of the bereaved families in a deadly stampede in South Korea's capital Seoul.

"I am deeply saddened to learn about the tragic accident in the Itaewon district of Seoul on 29 October, 2022 which caused loss of many lives and many injured," Hun Sen said in a condolence message sent to South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol.

Cambodia Launched Longan Exports To China

PHNOM PENH, Oct 28 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia, yesterday, launched longan exportation to China, marking another fruitful cooperation in the agricultural sector between the two countries.

Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Dith Tina, and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, Wang Wentian, attended the launching ceremony here.

Cambodia, Singapore Signed MoU On Clean Energy Cooperation

PHNOM PENH, Oct 26 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia and Singapore signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) yesterday, on clean energy cooperation, said a statement from Cambodia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy.

The deal was inked via video link, between Cambodian Minister for Mines and Energy, Suy Sem and Singapore’s Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Tan See Leng.

“The MoU is an important step to further develop the energy sector in both countries and in the region,” Suy Sem said.

Cambodian officials, conservationists call for end to wildlife consumption

MONDULKIRI, Cambodia, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Officials and conservationists in Cambodia on Saturday called for an end to wildlife consumption, saying that the wildlife consumption demand was a major driver for poaching, snaring crisis and illegal trade.

Ministry of Environment's Secretary of State Neth Pheaktra said wildlife consumption also increased the risk of disease transmission from wild animals to humans, posing a grave threat to the environment and human health.

9,065 Families Voluntarily Moved Out Of Cambodia’s Famed Angkor Area So Far: PM

SIEM REAP, Oct 21 (NNN-AKP) – At least 9,065 families, living in illegal structures in the 401-square-km Angkor Archaeological Park, have so far volunteered to resettle at new designated areas, Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, said today.

The relocated sites are situated in the Run Ta Ek eco-village in Banteay Srei district, and the Pak Sneng area in Angkor Thom district, outside the Angkor park.

11 students drown after river ferry capsizes in Cambodia

KOH CHAMROEUN, Cambodia (AP) — Eleven students in southern Cambodia who were crossing a river died after the boat they were on capsized, officials said.

Four people — two students and two of the boat’s crew — were rescued following the accident Thursday night on the Mekong River southeast of Phnom Penh, police said.

The body of a 14-year-old boy, who had been missing, was found Saturday morning, Maj. Gen. Chhoeun Sochet, chief of the Kandal provincial police, said on his Facebook page.

Cambodian King dismisses agriculture minister

PHNOM PENH, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni on Saturday signed a royal decree to sack Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Veng Sakhon from his post.

In the royal decree, the king said, "Veng Sakhon is dismissed from the post of the minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries."

"Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, must take responsibility to implement this royal decree from the day of signature," the king said.

Cuban PM to visit Cambodia next week: foreign ministry

PHNOM PENH, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz will pay an official visit to Cambodia from Oct. 4 to Oct. 6, where a number of bilateral documents are expected to be signed, the Cambodian foreign ministry said in a press statement on Saturday.

In Phnom Penh, Marrero will have a bilateral meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and then both leaders will preside over the signing ceremony of a number of documents covering bilateral cooperation in sports, education, culture as well as in other domains, the statement said.
