Cambodia Produced 4.82 Tonnes Of Gold So Far: Minister

PHNOM PENH, Dec 2 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia has produced 4.82 tonnes of dore bars, with 90 percent pure gold solution, since commercial mining started in June last year, Mines and Energy Minister, Suy Sem, said, on Wednesday.

During a meeting, Sem said, the country currently has four gold mining companies, namely Renaissance Minerals, Delcom Kampuchea, Xinshan Industrial (Cambodia), and Xing Yuan Kanng Yeak.

ASEAN governors, mayors vow to promote cooperation for smart city development

PHNOM PENH, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- The governors and mayors of capital cities of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Friday vowed to promote close partnership and comprehensive cooperation for the development of smart, resilient and sustainable cities in the region, according to a Phnom Penh Declaration.

The declaration was issued after the Meeting of Governors/Mayors of ASEAN Capitals 2022, which was convened in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh under the chairmanship of Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng.

Cambodia Recorded Over 1.57 Million Foreign Tourists In 10 Months

PHNOM PENH, Nov 30 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia attracted more than 1.57 million international visitors, in the first 10 months of 2022, according to a tourism ministry’s report today.

During the Jan-Oct period, Thailand topped the chart of international tourist arrivals to Cambodia, the report said.

It added that, 35.5 percent of the visitors entered the kingdom by air, 63.8 percent by land and 0.7 percent by waterways.

Pentagon chief raises concern about Beijing's 'dangerous' behavior with Chinese counterpart

PHNOM PENH, Nov 22 (Reuters) - U.S. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin on Tuesday emphasized the need to improve crisis communications during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart while raising concern about "increasingly dangerous" behavior by Chinese military aircraft.

The roughly 90-minute meeting in Cambodia, described as "productive and professional" by a U.S. official, was the pair's first since a visit to Taiwan by U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in August enraged China, which regards the island as its territory.

Cambodia, Brunei Vowed To Reinforce Ties, Cooperation

PHNOM PENH, Nov 15 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia and Brunei, yesterday, vowed to reinforce their bilateral relations and cooperation for mutual benefits, according to a joint statement.

The statement was issued at the end of a one-day state visit of Brunei’s Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah to Cambodia, as the two countries marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.

During the visit, the sultan had a meeting with Cambodian King, Norodom Sihamoni, and also met with Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the statement said.

SE Asian leaders do little to raise pressure on Myanmar

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) — Southeast Asian leaders did little to ramp up pressure on Myanmar to comply with their plan for peace, agreeing Friday to a course of action that largely kicks the matter down the road.

With violence in Myanmar spiraling out of control since the military seized power in 2021, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations has been trying to implement a five-point plan for peace, so far with little effect.

Ukraine boosts Southeast Asia ties with peace accord

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) — Ukraine signed a peace accord Thursday with Southeast Asian nations, a largely symbolic act that comes as Kyiv seeks to shore up international support in isolating Russia.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba signed the “Treaty on Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia” as the annual summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations got underway in Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital.
