Cambodia Arrests Five Suspected Drug Criminals, Seizing Over 156 Kg Of Drugs

PHNOM PENH, Jul 25 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia’s Anti-Drug Department police, arrested six suspected drug traffickers, during a raid here, confiscating 156.3 kilograms of illicit drugs, the National Police reported yesterday.

The suspects, four Vietnamese nationals and one Cambodian, were caught at a townhouse in Phnom Penh’s Chbar Ampov district, on Tuesday, the police said, adding, they had used the house as a place for manufacturing and storing the drugs.

PHNOM PENH/HANOI, July 22 (Reuters) - Buried in a long U.S. indictment accusing China of a global cyberespionage campaign was a curious detail: Among the governments targeted by Chinese hackers was Cambodia, one of Beijing's most loyal Asian allies.

The target of the hack, which two sources with knowledge of the indictment said was Cambodia's foreign ministry, was also revealing - discussions between China and Cambodia over the use of the Mekong River, which has become a new battleground for U.S. and Chinese influence in Southeast Asia.

Landmine Casualties In Cambodia Down 32 Percent In First Half Of 2021: Report

PHNOM PENH, Jul 12 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia reported 26 landmine and explosive remnant of war (ERW) casualties, in the first half of 2021, down 32 percent compared with 38 over the same period last year, said a report released yesterday.

During the Jan-Jun period this year, eight people were killed and 18 others were either injured or limbs amputated, said the report, issued by the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authorities (CMAA). They included 23 men, one woman, and two children, the report added.

Cambodia arrests 10 suspected drug traffickers, seizing 40 kg drugs: police

PHNOM PENH, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia's anti-drug police have recently arrested 10 suspected drug traffickers in two separate cases involving about 40 kg illicit drugs, police said on Friday.

In one case, police arrested eight suspects, including a Thai woman, in the northwestern Banteay Meanchey province on Wednesday, seizing from them 34 kg crystal methamphetamine, 110 ecstasy pills, 383 methamphetamine pills, two pistols and two cars, the National Police said.

Cambodian Health Minister Says Traditional Chinese Medicine “Effective” For Treating Mild COVID-19 Symptoms

PHNOM PENH, May 29 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia’s Health Minister, Mam Bunheng, said that, traditional Chinese medicine, Lianhua Qingwen Capsule is “effective” to treat COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms.

Lianhua Qingwen Capsules, a patented traditional Chinese medicine, widely used in China, to treat symptoms of COVID-19 patients, was licensed by Cambodia’s health ministry for use in April.

Cambodians complain of lockdown hunger as outbreak takes toll on poor

In a pre-recorded speech delivered to the opening ceremony of the 77th session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific held in Bangkok via videoconference, Hun Sen said Cambodia is a strong advocate of the principles of globalization.

Cambodian FM To Attend ASEAN FMs’ Retreat Via Video Conference

PHNOM PENH, Jan 20 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Prak Sokhonn, will participate in the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat, to be held tomorrow, via videoconference, said a foreign ministry’s press statement today.

The retreat will follow up on the leaders’ guidance from the 37th Summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), focusing on key areas like ASEAN Blueprints, ASEAN Community building and ASEAN Community Vision Post-2025, the statement said.

Cambodian Authorities Arrest 20,913 Drug Suspects, Seizing Over Three Tonnes Of Drugs Last Year

PHNOM PENH, Jan 2 (NNN-AKP) – The number of people arrested in Cambodia for allegedly involving in illicit drugs increased in 2020, and the amount of drugs seized rose sharply, according to the Anti-Drug Police Department report today.

The authorities nabbed 20,913 drug-related suspects, in 10,193 cases last year, up four and six percent, respectively, compared to a year earlier.

Some 12,245 people were arrested for drug trafficking and 8,668 were caught for drug use, it said, adding that, 355 of them were foreigners in 14 nationalities.

EU, Germany, France Jointly Provide 116 Million USD To Develop Rural Infrastructure In Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, Dec 24 (NNN-AKP) – The European Union, Germany and France earlier this week provided a credit agreement worth 95.8 million euros (116 million U.S. dollars) to Cambodia, to support Rural Infrastructure Development for Cambodia (RID4CAM) project, said a joint press statement yesterday.
